Algeria intends to submit to Unesco 11 files concerning Algerian musical genres with a view to their classification as universal heritage.
The director of the National Center for Prehistoric, Anthropological and Historical Research (CNRPAH), Slimane Hachi announced it on Wednesday in Tlemcen.
These files concern the female songs “Sraoui” and “Acewiq” from the Kabylie region, “Ayay” from the wilayas of Laghouat and Biskra, the Châabi El Assimi, El Malouf, El Hawzi, El Haoufi and other musical genres, a underlined Mr. Hachi.
The director of the CNRPAH explained that committees made up of specialists and researchers are in charge of these files relating to these musical genres which will be gradually submitted to Unesco.
It is also planned, at the end of next March, the filing of the file on the traditional female costume of the eastern region of the country which includes “Melahfa”, the gandoura and other outfits with a view to their classification as world heritage. added the same manager.
