A total of twenty-five (25) hotel establishments will be received nationwide before the start of the next summer season, the Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Yacine Hammadi, told Tipasa on Monday.
The minister, on a working visit to the wilaya, announced in a statement to the press, a forecast of reception of 25 hotel establishments, at the level of wilayas of the country’s coastline, with a view to their commissioning in the summer of 2022.
The sector currently has 50 non-operated hotel establishments, the commissioning of which should contribute to the strengthening of its reception capacities, during the next summer season, he added.
According to Mr. Hammadi, these are hotel establishments that remained shut down and unused, for various reasons, before the promulgation of an instruction from the President of the Republic stipulating the removal of all obstacles hindering investments, while granting them operating authorizations.
The minister visited, in this context, a hotel in Fouka, built on agricultural land, and therefore remained unexploited for more than ten years, before benefiting from an exceptional exploitation authorization issued by the wali of Tipasa, pending the promulgation of the law on investment and the final settlement of the situation of his land.
With regard to the Tourist Expansion Zones (ZET), the Minister referred to a decision to revise the Tourist development Plans of all tourist zones facing constraints hindering their exploitation, such as the Daouda ZET, the largest zone at the national level, with an area of 150 hectares divided into several lots such as to allow the implementation of 14 tourist projects.
Algeria has 249 ZETS created since 1988, but their exploitation does not exceed 1.5%, he lamented, calling this figure ”very, very low”.
In addition, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts revealed, regarding the rates of accommodation in public hotel establishments, that strict instructions have been given for the adoption of rates allowing average families to have access to tourist structures, stressing that the “executive decree regulating this issue is at the level of the General Secretariat of the government, and will be subject to debate and approval”.
