The CAF World Giving Index ranking is based on data from Gallup’s World View World Poll. Data have been included for 114 countries, representing over 90% of the global adult population.
The ranking is based on three criteria, namely the percentage of residents who have given money to an organization, donated their time or helped a stranger.
The most generous country in the world is none other than Indonesia, while the least generous country is Japan, according to World Giving Index.
From the table, we see that 60% of Algerians helped foreigners, 16% gave money to a charitable organization and 18% gave of their time in 2020.
Note that Morocco and France are on the list of the ten (10) least generous countries in the world, while four (4) African countries are part of the TOP 10 of the most generous countries, in this case Kenya, Nigeria , Ghana and Uganda.

Globally, developed countries like the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands came out of the top ranking, only Australia and New Zealand kept the top 10.
Interestingly, poor countries like Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana were ranked among the top 10 generous countries in the CAF 2021 index.
