ALGIERS – The Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts is organizing the 6th edition of the International Saharan Tourism Festival from November 14 to 17 in the El-Oued province, aiming to “effectively contribute” to enhancing tourism appeal, according to a statement released by the ministry on Sunday.
This festival seeks to promote Saharan tourism products and to “strengthen the foundations for the development of this economic activity across all southern provinces, highlighting the Saharan tourism product as a cornerstone of Algerian tourism.”
El-Oued, the city of a thousand domes, has been chosen to host this significant event due to its varied tourist assets, as well as its tangible and intangible heritage and the traditions of its inhabitants, the statement added.
The program for this event includes “numerous tourism, cultural, artistic, and sporting activities that characterize the various southern provinces, aiming to promote Algeria’s rich and diverse Saharan tourism product, with the participation of local and international operators and stakeholders in the tourism and handicrafts sector.”
The festival “will also offer participants and visitors the opportunity to explore the beauty of the Saharan landscape and share their experiences, serving as a platform for exchanging ideas and expertise in Saharan tourism, through the Saharan Tourism Expo and a scientific conference organized for the occasion,” the statement concluded.
