D’zart’s subversive art imbued with dark surrealism mobilizes and subverts iconic figures in order to infuse them with a deeply Algerian identity.
Oeuvre : Black Flower زهرة سوداء
Oeuvre : Animal حيوان
Oeuvre : Never forgive مانسمحش
Born in the late 1980s, D’zart comes from a family of artists with Algerian and Russian origins. Marked by his unusual environment, he began studying classical art in Mostaganem and graphic and industrial art in Algiers. He then worked among others as a graphic designer, artistic director and illustrator in Europe.
D’zart is a mix between two words “Dzair” and “Tsar“, because my two origins are very important to me. If Algeria is at the heart of my work, Russia also runs in my pen and my blood.
Oeuvre : My Hood حومتي
Oeuvre : Abondonned مهجور
Oeuvre : Golden Sou
Golden tears represent our wealth lost forever through ignorance.
By diverting a fundamental element of Orthodox catechesis (the representation of holy figures through icons symbolizing purity), D’zart creates archetypes from Algerian society. Algerian Arabic is even harmoniously combined with motifs from Amazigh heritage, while the beauty of the artist’s works is combined with the seriousness of the messages expressed.
Oeuvre : Enough بركات
Oeuvre : Burn it أحرقها
D’zart also uses the human skull in his works because of its universality, beyond differences of gender, religion or ethnicity. The artist draws his inspiration from the society in which he lives and its contradictions. In his works, he notably explores nationalism, even in exodus, injustices, or the place of women in the home and in society.
Oeuvre : Shut Up & Work أخدم و بلع
Oeuvre : Refugees Skull
Oeuvre : Poor Skull
Through his portraits on digital medium with an ethereal aesthetic, it is the perspective of the illustrator and the graphic designer on Algerian society that is revealed.
Oeuvre : The Prey الفريسة
Oeuvre : Still standing واقفا
Oeuvre : I can’t see لا ارى
