Four seawater desalination plants in Algiers and Tipasa, which are currently been renovated will be commissioned in late August 20, said the Ministry of Water Resources in a report.
The plants are located in the resorts of Palm-Beach whose rate of progress is currently around 60%, Bou-Ismail (rate of 59%), Zéralda (rate of 50%) and Ain Benian (rate 45%), said the ministry in its activity report for the first half of 2021 published on its website.
Thus, the Palm-Beach plant should be put into service on June 30, that of Bou-Ismail on July 15, while the entry into service of the stations of Zéralda and Ain Benian is scheduled for, respectively, July 30 and 20 August.
The four plants have an overall capacity of 37,500 m3 / day, according to the same source.
The renovation and extension of these four plants is part of an emergency programme affecting 18 provinces most affected by the water deficit.
As part of this emergency program, 70 wells were commissioned during the first half of 2021, developing a flow rate of 81,000 m3 / d, while 13 other Drinking Water Supply (DWS) projects are experiencing a ” good rate of progress “, the reception of which will take place before June 30th.
The impact of these achievements will contribute to improving the water supply for the benefit of a population of nearly 5 million inhabitants during the summer season.
