Algerian runner Mounia Gasmi won the bronze medal (F 32) in the shot put and puck at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, on Friday, during the first day of the athletics competition.
The 31-year-old Algerian secured the bronze medal after the fifth attempt with 23.29 meters (her best number).
Gasmi won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Games with a throw of 25.41 meters.
The gold medal in this competition was given to Poland’s Rosa Kozakoska with an attempt of 28.74 meters, which means a new world record, which was held by Tunisian Marwa Ibrahim (27.28) since April 2019. The silver medal was won by Ukraine’s Anastasia Moskalenko (24.73 meters).
With this, Algeria achieved the third medal after the gold one obtained by wrestler Abdellaoui Cherine (Judo / less than 52 kg) and the bronze for the holder by force, Hocine Bettir.
