Director-General of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Wahiba Bahloul, has received an official delegation from Nigeria, made-up of representatives of Nigerian official bodies and economic sectors led by Professor Fumi Bara-Balam, to discuss opportunities for the development of investments outside hydrocarbons between the two countries, and to work in a regional and continental framework through the Free Trade Area.
A statement by the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry indicated that this meeting, attended by a group of economic operators representing different sectors, is part of a series of meetings held by the Nigerian delegation with government agencies and economic institutions, with the aim of discussing the future of bilateral relations, especially the aspect related to the development of trade and economic exchanges.
The meeting focused on the need to develop bilateral relations through economic and trade institutions, and to attract all available opportunities in the field of export development outside hydrocarbons as well as direct investments from Algeria to Nigeria and vice versa, taking into account the potential that enables both countries to work together in a regional and continental framework through the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The meeting focused, the statement added, on the need to establish the Nigerian-Algerian Business Council, which is considered as the tool of economic diplomacy and the strengthening of economic relations and exchanges on a win-win basis.
Finally, the two parties agreed to work to build strong and fruitful relations and make the two countries a locomotive for the African continent in the economic, commercial and entrepreneurship fields, through the Chambers of Commerce and the Business Council, and to move forward on the path of growth and development in Africa.
