FRANCE / ALGERIA. In a press release published on 16 November 2021, the French company Europlasma announced the opening of discussions with NCC Environnement “for the creation of an asbestos and PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) vitrification unit in Algeria”.
Based in Morcenx, in the Landes region, Europlasma specialises in decontamination using plasma torches. This vitrification technology, which it alone masters, makes it possible to neutralise and recycle asbestos waste.
Europlasma employs just over one hundred people. After coming close to liquidation in 2019, the group was taken over by the Luxembourg investment fund Zigi Capital. In 2020, it generated a turnover of €3.95 million with a net result of €61,298.
The partnership with NCC Environnement, which is active in hazardous waste recovery, cleaning and industrial disinfection, will enable Europlasma to gain a foothold in Algeria. This country has large stocks of asbestos and PCBs awaiting treatment.
