Maritime transport activity for passengers resumed today, Sunday, via the line linking the port of Mostaganem and the Spanish port of Valencia, after more than 20 months of suspension due to prevention measures against the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.
The ship of the foreign transporter specialized in maritime transport for passengers (Balearia) docked at Mostaganem port at around eight o’clock in the morning, carrying 349 passengers and 148 vehicles, as announced by the province’s Director of Transport, Riad Boumediene.
This transporter will guarantee the transportation of passengers back and forth through this marine line on the basis of one trip per week, according to Mr. Boumediene.
The local authorities have developed a health plan to ensure the arrival and departure of passengers in the best conditions, especially with regard to the prevention from Coronavirus, as highlighted by the province’s Director of Health and Population Toufik Mohamed Khalil.
According to the province’s Director of Health and Population, a mobile medical team was mobilized at the level of the marine station to transport passengers, consisting of a doctor and 4 paramedics, equipped with a thermal camera and remote thermometers.
Six laboratories were also mobilized to conduct rapid virus detection analyzes to facilitate the process of travelers entering the marine station and to carry out various administrative procedures, according to Mr. Khalil.
