Algeria has previously confirmed its readiness to supply Europe With gas, the Minister of Energy Transition and Renewable Energy, Ziane Benatou, revealed that Algeria will also supply Europe with hydrogen..
In a press statement, Benatou stressed that Algeria has all the ingredients for the production and marketing of hydrogen at a very competitive cost. The same minister explained that “all studies, including the International Energy Agency or the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), indicate that Algeria will provide Europe with hydrogen, especially green.” And In the same context, the same speaker said: “This is what we see from the German rapprochement of the partnership with Algeria, knowing that Germany will rely heavily on green hydrogen, in order to achieve carbon-neutral goals during 2050“. He referred to the study conducted by his ministerial department with the German partner in this regard, which concluded that Algeria will play an important role in the production and export of this quality, based on its large components of clean energy such as solar energy or wind energy. Natural gas and its marketing, referring to the gas channels connecting Europe.
The same official said, in this regard, that “Algeria actually possesses great potentials that qualify it to lead and achieve huge achievements in the field of renewable energy, thanks to several factors, including government interest.” In the context, Benatto said that “all these factors will allow the price of A kilogram of hydrogen is very competitive, especially using natural gas channels, as 25 percent of hydrogen can be incorporated, according to studies, but what is safe is within 10 percent, taking into account the chemical and physical properties of hydrogen such as viscosity, fluidity, and density.AndIn this regard, the same minister stressed that hydrogen development in Algeria is among the future projects that the state depends on, so it is under the auspices of the Prime Minister, who gave instructions to establish a national committee to prepare the national strategy for hydrogen development. And the energy transition, whose tasks include laying the foundations for hydrogen development in Algeria, with a forward-looking view that defines the ways and methods for hydrogen development, starting with a clean energy source, providing water, as well as the logistics of means of production, transportation and storage.
