ISTANBUL (Turkey)- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received, Tuesday, an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Istanbul, on the sidelines of his three-day State visit to Turkey since Sunday, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The honorary doctorate ceremony for President Tebboune took place at Istanbul University in the presence of its eminent doctors, as well as the Vice-President of Turkey, Fuat Oktay.
President of the Republic was awarded an honorary doctorate in international relations by the University of Istanbul, “in recognition of his efforts in terms of international and regional cooperation and the development of relations between Algeria and Turkey”.
President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, held, on Monday, one-to-one bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the Turkish capital, Ankara. Ealier, President Tebboune paid a visit to the mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, in the capital, Ankara. President Tebboune laid a wreath of flowers on the shrine and observed a minute of silence in memory of Ataturk. He then signed the honor book.
In addition, President Tebboune met, on Sunday, in Ankara (Turkey), representatives of the Algerian community established in Turkey who shared with him their concerns and expectations.
The representatives of the national community in Turkey welcomed this tradition instituted by President Tebboune during his visits abroad, thus, reflecting his commitment to meeting members of the diaspora to discuss their concerns and listen to their proposals.
This approach reflects the interest granted by the Algerian State to the national community and its attachment to involving its members in the process of economic development of the country.
President Tebboune “will hold talks with his brother, the President of the Republic of Turkey, on Algerian-Turkish relations and the means of strengthening them in the best interests of the two brotherly peoples, as well as on regional and international questions of common interest “, said a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
