The Algerian national fencing team won three new medals (gold, silver and bronze) during the fourth day of the African Junior Championships (men and women), which took place today, Saturday, in Casablanca (Morocco).
The women’s national team won the gold medal in the field of “Al-Hussam”, after defeating Tunisia in the final with a score 45-27
The national team consists of: Sawsan Boudiaf, Zohra Kahli, Kawthar Mohamed-Belkebir and Abeek Bounekab.
As for the silver, it went to the male team in the “flying” weapon, after losing in the teams’ final, Mam Egypt, by (45-20).
The national team consists of the trio of Harwi Selim, Madi Youssef and Danny Falah.
For his part, the women’s team for the “Al-Seef” specialization was satisfied with the bronze, after losing in the semi-finals to Egypt by (35-45), to return and beat Senegal in the ranking match (45-43).
The Al-Saif team consists of Zabouj Yusra, Malik Lea Rasha and Qaham Marwa.
On Friday, Algeria won three medals (1 gold and 2 bronze).
The gold came thanks to the dark blue fencing at the expense of the Egyptian Nada Hafez (15-10) in the “Al-Husam” competition.
As for the two bronzes, they belonged to Youssef Madi in the “Shish” weapon, and Sawsan Boudiaf in the “Hossam”.
This brings Algeria’s medal tally to 6 (two gold, one silver and three bronze).
Algeria is participating in the African Championship in Morocco with 21 athletes (11 women – 10 males) in the three disciplines: Seif, Shech and El Hossam.
After the continental competition, the “greens” enter directly into the Mediterranean village of Oran in anticipation of participating in the Mediterranean Games.
