Algerian judo wrestler Sonia Islah won the silver medal during the second day of the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey, after losing in the 78 kg final on Tuesday, at the hands of Turkey’s Kaira Saiyet, while her compatriot, Kawthar, was satisfied. Allal won the bronze in the weight of less than 78 kg, after winning the ranking match over her Cameroonian counterpart, Ari Sofina Aiouk Otay.
Algerian swimmer Jawad Sayoud also won his third medal in a competition, after taking second place in the final race of the 200-meter butterfly, today, Tuesday, in the 3d 00 th time of 65.
This medal is the third for the Algerian swimmer after the 200m x 4g and 400m x 4g golds.
While the men were eliminated in the first rounds, where Deni Ashour (less than 81 kg) was eliminated from the first round by Bahraini Askerbee Gerbekov, while Darul Luqman (less than 90 kg) was eliminated in the second round against Senegalese Abdel Rahman Diao, after he had been exempted from First round.
The same is true for Balqra Muhammad Sufyan (more than 100 kg), who was exempted from the first round and excluded from the second round in front of Bahraini Azamat Shuchayev, and although he fought in the pre-emptive fight against the Azerbaijani Imran Yusifov, he was defeated again.
During Monday’s fights, the Algerian team won three medals (gold, silver and bronze).
The gold medal went to Amina Belkadhi (under 63 kg category) after winning the final against Turkish Sima Azerler, while her compatriot Yamina Halata (under 57 kg category) settled for silver after losing to Nilfar Ermaganbitova of Uzbekistan.
