The “Al Jazairi” Foundation for the production, distribution and exploitation of the film “Prince Abdelkader” has taken important steps in preparing for the launch of this major cinematic project.
In this regard, Saadane Ayadi, Director General of the Foundation, revealed to the Algerian News Agency, which was established by a presidential decree at the end of the year 2021, that “the process of preparing for the completion of this great cinematic work, which was re-released by order of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” noting ” Initiating serious contacts with a number of prominent film names in the field of directing and script writers, with the help of historians, especially those who were interested in the period in which Prince Abdelkader lived.
In this regard, according to Ayadi, “meetings will be organized to learn about everything related to that era of events and work on all aspects that characterized social life at that time, such as architecture, clothing, and others.”
The same spokesman explained that choosing a “great director” to make the film “Prince Abdelkader” is “necessary”, because the goal – as he said – “is not only to produce the film, but to give it the opportunity for wide exploitation and distribution in Algeria and abroad.”
In this context, he mentioned that most of the successful Algerian films locally and internationally, did not find many opportunities for showing abroad.
Ayadi considered that the achievement of a cinematic work of this size “imposes work by international standards in the field of the film industry at the dramatic level, directing and the use of high technologies.” Therefore, the “Al Jazairi” Foundation will work – as he said – “strive to produce a high-quality work of art that knows the new generations in Algeria and in the Arab world.” Outside with this unique personality who valiantly resisted the colonizer for more than 15 years and established the modern Algerian state, highlighting the other aspects of the man as a thinker, philosopher, diplomat, poet and jurist, in addition to his humanitarian positions.
This cinematic work will show the world, as confirmed by the journalist and scriptwriter Boukhalfa Amazet, a member of the Foundation, “the true image of this hero, not the one that the colonizer presents in his references”, which works to present the prince “as part of the history of France” in an attempt to remove “the character of the resistance against him.” He obliterated the period of suffering he and his family members and soldiers lived in exile in France in palaces that are in fact horrific prisons.
Amazet also stressed the importance of “providing all the material and technical capabilities as well as casting for the success of this project,” as well as “relying on international names, especially in the field of directing and the script that needs specialists, because it requires a good knowledge of the personality and the historical circumstances in which he lived to absorb the weight and prestige of this the man”.
In another context, he also stressed the interest in film promotion media and the provision of dubbing and translation for work, in accordance with the decree establishing the “Al Jazairi” Foundation, which also gave it the right to conclude commercial, financial, real estate and industrial agreements and contracts in order to achieve its goals and fulfill its tasks in accordance with the laws in force.
This project also needs – according to the statements of the officials of the institution – to “Algerian capabilities and talents”, whether at the technical or technical level, as well as to “financial support for public and private institutions and companies.” contribute to the production process.
On the other hand, they pointed out that the film’s proceeds “will also contribute to the production of other works about the prince that deal with different aspects of his life and his positions, presented in different media and forms, such as drama, series, and even animation.”
The Foundation will also seek, through this work, to “partnership and cooperation with foreign parties to produce joint films that show other aspects of the life and positions of the Emir and work in parallel to attract the interest of foreign filmmakers to film their works in various locations and natural areas in which Algeria abounds, such as the Sahara.”
The two speakers concluded that the success of the Prince Abdul Qader film will contribute to revitalizing the cinematic field to lay the foundations of a creative cinematographic industry for jobs and wealth through purposeful production of international standards.
