ALGIERS – The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, supervised the operation to increase the international bandwidth of Algérie Télécom to 7.8 terabits / second while it was 2.8 tb / s in 2021 and of 1.5 tb/s in 2020, a statement from the ministry said on Friday.
“In addition to the flexibility that this significant increase will bring given the strategic role of international bandwidth in securing the Internet at the local level, it will also create the right conditions for the realization of the sector’s action program in terms of deployment of optical fiber and connection of two thirds of households (6 million families) to the internet network by the end of 2024”, according to the press release.
“This increase will also allow a proactive response to the growing demand on the internet while ensuring high internet speeds according to the offers presented”, concluded the same source.
