Sporting events, political visits and economic meetings in Algeria
Algeria has recently occupied the forefront on the continental scene, through a multitude of events and demonstrations of an economic, industrial, commercial, technological nature, etc…
Indeed, for several months now, Algeria has been on the way to becoming the hard core of economic marketing and management of continental communication. And as proof, the activities of economic promotion, revival of trade, sustainable development, resolution of political crises, reflection on major issues and themes of the continent, projects for the economic revival of Africa are, more and more more, sheltered or downright initiated from Algeria.
The continental insurance summit which is currently taking place in the Algerian capital is this scathing proof of the general trend adopted by Algiers in the quest for a status as a leading country in Africa. A crucial summit that promises to come out with concrete solutions, in terms of food and agricultural resilience for the benefit of Africa.
In this line of major themes involving the future of African countries, in the era of major geopolitical negotiations and the inevitable and progressive constitution of a new polarization, Algeria intends to initiate the general debate around themes of great interest.
We should also note the organisation, just a few weeks ago, of the 9th African summit on investment and trade in Algiers. An edition which saw a strong participation of African countries, including renowned experts, around the mechanisms to be established, in order to attract new investments from the countries of the continent.
Last March, the capital also had to host the African Business Fair “Sada 2023”, which aimed to revitalize the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf). In this context, it is appropriate to underline Algeria’s commitment to revitalizing this space, through a battery of measures and decisions on the financial, logistical and transport levels, as well as on the level of the investments granted for what is infrastructure put to good use.
In terms of promoting start-ups, Algeria has had to host at least two continental-scale events, including the first African Start-up Congress in December 2022. The Algeria Digital Summit is also a another from Algeria, in favor of promoting the digitalization and technological development of the continent, through summits and activities at ministerial and other levels.
On another note, the establishment of Algerian banks in Mauritania and Senegal has also revived this prospect of investing in African financial markets and boosting foreign trade. In terms of security and the fight against terrorism, Algeria is a pioneer, through its experience and its resolutions in favor of the promotion of peace and the peaceful settlement of crises.
The case of Mali and that of Libya, where the UN recognizes the central role of Algeria, are the most instructive examples in this regard. Concretely, Algeria has brought its grain of sand to the African edifice, far from procrastination and hollow and fallacious speeches.
In terms of contributions and achievements, the examples to be cited are legion and of great importance, it should be emphasized. The Tsgp, the Trans-Saharan road, the African optical fiber project, the granting of an amount of one billion US dollars for the development of African countries, etc… are all projects that illustrate this declared desire. Aware of its unique role, conferred on it by its geostrategic position, its continental energy supremacy and its unusual revolutionary history, Algeria continues its progress within the continent, driven by the conviction that the development of Africa comes first. through inter-African cooperation and mutual aid.
Algiers’ advocacy for a greater role for African civil society in the development of public policies and the promotion of good governance, also contributes to a plan to promote democracy and freedoms within the continent.
