The value of Algeria’s exports during the first six months of 2022 amounted to $25.922 billion, an increase of 48.3 percent compared to the same period in 2021, of which $3.507 billion were exports outside hydrocarbons, according to Algerian customs.
The customs statistics announced today, Monday, show that imports amounted to 20,223 billion dollars for the first six months of 2022, an increase of 7.41 percent, compared to the first six months of 2021 (18,829 billion dollars). The value of exports during the same period amounted to $25.922 billion, an increase of 48.3 percent compared to the first six months of 2021 ($17,480 billion).
Consequently, the trade balance recorded a surplus for the first six months of 2022, amounting to 5.689 billion dollars, after a deficit in the first six months of 2021, estimated at -1.348 billion dollars.
The coverage ratio of imports to exports during this six-month period amounted to 128.2 percent, compared to 92.8 percent during the first six-year period of 2021.
As for exports outside of hydrocarbons (outside energy and oils), they amounted to 3.507 billion dollars during the first six months of 2022, compared to 2,047 billion dollars during the same period last year, “that is, half of the goal set for 2022, which is 7 billion dollars,” adds the same source.
With regard to Algeria’s most important trading partners, Algerian customs highlighted that the main suppliers are China (16.5 percent), France (7.17%), Brazil (6.51 percent), Argentina (6.44 percent) and Italy (5.83 percent). ), noting that the most important customers are: Italy (21.83 percent), Spain (12.13 percent), France (9.94 percent), the Netherlands (7.38 percent) and the United States (5.75 percent)
