Speaking at this session, which was attended by the member countries of the committee (Algeria, Chad, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Mali), the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki recalled that Algeria has completed the work the construction of its fiber optic section over a distance of 2548 km.
This is the fiber optic cable linking Algiers and Ain Guezzam (border with Niger) and another section going as far as Tindouf (border with Mauritania), thus testifying to Algeria’s commitment to materialize this strategic project for the region, he mentioned.
This project, which operates in parallel with that of the trans-Saharan highway, aims to connect to the Internet all the towns through which its route passes, particularly isolated areas, and will thus contribute to reducing development imbalances in the region, a- he explained.
