ALGIERS – The second edition of the Tourism Trophy 2022 (Algeria Tourism conference &Awards) was organized on Wednesday at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) with the awarding of prizes to several operators and professionals who have innovated in the promotion and development of tourism activity in Algeria.
Presiding over the award ceremony for the winners of the competition for the best tourist work, held in the presence of members of the Government, the Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Yacine Hamadi stressed the importance of this 2nd edition of the Tourism Trophy 2022 initiated by the World trade center in 2019 with the aim of “encouraging operators and professionals in the sector to improve and develop their services and hotel establishments for the revival of the Tourism sector”.
This second edition comes at a time when “the world is observing a decrease in the health crisis induced by the Covid-19 pandemic”, with serious repercussions on world economies,” said the minister, arguing that Algeria has tried to adapt to this difficult situation through the use of complementary alternative practices to create activity and manage the crisis, especially in the field of tourism”.
On this occasion, Mr. Hamadi praised the efforts of all public and private operators active in the field of hospitality, which have participated effectively since the beginning of the pandemic to bring the health lockdown to an end and to ensure the citizens concerned decent accommodation conditions to protect them against the disease”.
Mr. Hamadi recalled the great importance given by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the promotion of the Tourism sector, locomotive of the national economy, likely to contribute to the gradual exit from dependence on hydrocarbons, given the natural assets and tourist potential of the country and the rich historical and cultural heritage “, stressing the importance of developing domestic tourism, through the promotion of tourist services so as to meet the aspirations of the Algerian family”.
The Minister advocated, in this sense, a revision of the current tariffs to create a real competitiveness between investors”.
The awarding of the prizes to the winners of this competition is intended to be a recognition of the high level of competition that operators have achieved in this field through their innovative tourism products and offers marketed to the local and international markets, the Minister said.
For his part, the CEO of the World Trade Center of Algiers, Ahmed Tibaoui stressed the importance of honoring the winners who have excelled in the field of tourism, also insisting on the valorization of initiatives and innovation in this activity that is relied on to achieve economic development.
Mr. Tibaoui said that his establishment spares no effort in promoting the destination Algeria, expressing his conviction that Algeria has “all the assets of a diversified tourism that will allow it to develop this activity through investment support, the promotion of hotel services, the creation of specialized start-ups, the establishment of digital platforms to publicize the national product and the strengthening of internal tourism.
Two solidarity prizes were awarded to the hotel “Mazafran” and the hotel group “AZ” for their humanitarian gesture, namely the reception of citizens placed in confinement during the pandemic crisis.
The first two prizes for the best artistic work in tourism were won respectively by the publishing house Zaki Bouzid and Nadir Djama.
The prize for the best tourist guide goes to the publishing house “Al Bayazine”, while the two brilliant journalists of Canal Algérie Hichem Daou and Nadia Abada were awarded the prize for the best reportage in tourism.
The award for the best promotional video went to “Green info”, while the award for the best start-up in tourism went to Imenium Bio and Shedio.
The laureates expressed their thanks, on the occasion, for this gesture which is able to encourage them to start the tourism revival.
