Algerian boxer Iman Khelif Khalif won the gold medal at the international tournament “Strandja Memorial”, which ended on Sunday evening in Sofia, Bulgaria, after five days of competition.
The gold medal was won by Imane Khelif in women’s 63 kilos, after her victory in the final against Nataliya Sychugova, the rising star of Russian boxing, who won the bronze medal at the 2019 European Under-22 Championships.
The silver medal was won by Roumaïssa Boualem in the women’s 50 kg category, after her defeat in the final of this category against Kazakh Nazym Kyzaibay.
As for the bronze medal, it was won by Abdel-Nacer Ben Laribi in the 63.5 kilos (men), after his defeat in the semi-final against the Ukrainian Khartsyz Yaroslav (1-4).
The fourth and last Algerian competitor in this tournament, the young Ichrak Chaïb, was eliminated in the quarter-finals, after her defeat last Wednesday against the Kazakh Dariga Shakimova.
More than 450 boxers (men and women), representing 36 countries, took part in this prestigious international tournament, held from 20 to 27 February in Sofia (Bulgaria), in its 73rd edition this year.
