The Algerian National Theater ” Mahieddine Bachtarzi ” is organizing a contest for humorous performances destined to theater professionals and amateurs in honor of late comedian Saïd Hilmi, one of the most prominent figures of Algerian theater and cinema, who died recently at the age of 82, the Cultural Institution announced on its Facebook page.
The contest, which lasts until September 22, is organized for theater professionals and amateurs over 20 years old, in the form of a tribute to one of the biggest names in Algerian theater, in which the three best comedy shows will compete for the first three prizes.
All what the candidates have to do, is prepare a humorous theater show ranging between 5 and 10 minutes and send it in video format to the following email: moussabaka.tna.2021@gmail.com.
Saïd Hilmi, who was born in 1939 in Tizi Ouzou, was interested in theater since his childhood by activating radio programs about the theater in Berber language, on channel two of the National Radio such as “Akerdach”.
In the world of cinema, late Hilmi participated in many films, especially the movie “Ali in the Land of Wonders” 1979, directed by Mohamed Rachedi, and “The Women’s Circle” 2005, directed by Mohamed Chwiyakh.
