ALGIERS- The 25th International Book Fair of Algiers “SILA” will be held from March 24 to 31, 2022, after the cancellation of 2021’s edition because of the outbreak of the global pandemic Covid-19, Ministry of Culture and Arts announced.
Originally scheduled for November 2020, this edition was to be held virtually as part of the preventive measures introduced by the competent authorities with a view to warding off the spread of the pandemic, before being totally canceled. It will be held at the Expositions’ Palace of Pins Maritimes in Algiers.
Italy has been selected as the guest of honor for being “a neighboring country and friend known for its prolific cultural production”.
Noting that the main cultural event in Algeria, SILA, recorded, in 2019, the participation of 1,030 publishing houses from 36 countries, including 298 Algerians, and registered 1,150 million visitors.
