ORAN- Many investment opportunities are available for the American investors in Algeria, notably in agriculture, the head of the Algerian-American Business Council Smail Chikhoune said Sunday, in Oran.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of an exploration visit of a delegation of American investors to several farms and cattle breeding farms in Oran, Chikhoune underlined that this visit, paid by 14 American operators in agriculture, aims to explore the investment opportunities in different industries in agriculture, including cattle breeding, irrigation, olive oil production and citrus growing.
It also aims to know the expectations of the Algeria farmers and stockbreeders in terms of partnership, likely to enable them to take advantage of the American experience in milk production, the manufacturing of agricultural equipment and the industrial development of agricultural machinery.
The American investors welcomed what is currently being done in Algeria, said Samil Chikhoune, pointing out “all the farmers and stockbreeders that we met in Oran want to go to larger spaces and further develop cultivation and methods of breeding with an American partner and expertise.
He also underlined that the American operators are interested in the organic products and the production of Clementine (citrus fruit) of Misserghine and of olive oil.
The members of the American delegation expressed their interest in the sector of agriculture and all the opportunities offered in terms of investment. In this respect, Don Roberts, a farmer and breeder of more than 5,000 dairy cows in the State of Utah said that Algeria has huge natural potential in addition to inestimable human resources.
