Algerian national team beat its Sudanese counterpart 4-0 (3-0 first half) today Wednesday for the first round of Group D at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium (December 30 to November 18).
Baghdad Bounedjah bagged a brace at 11 and 37 minutes of the encounter as Algeria thumped Sudan 4-0 to start their FIFA Arab Cup campaign on a positive note at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. Defender Djamel Belrami scored few minutes before the end of the first half and El Arabi Soudani scored the only goal of the second half at first minute of the second half as Sudan’s Mohammed Abdel missed a penalty at the 70 minute of the game.
The Desert Foxes, one of the favorites to win the competition are now top of Group D with Egypt and Lebanon set to play later at 14:00 in Doha.
Algeria will play Lebanon next Saturday at 14:00 while Egypt will face Sudan at 17:00
Egypt’s Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz chose a 23-player squad for the competition mainly from El Zamalek and El Ahly to face the Lebanese team.
