The Arab League SG, Aboul Gheit, received at President of Algeria National Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Rédha TIR, at the Arab League headquarters. During this meeting, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, welcomed Algeria’s “key role” in the multiple regional and international issues, welcoming in this regard the latest measures decided by President of the Republic, Abdelamdjid Tebboune, aimed at strengthening the role of Algerian diplomacy, said Tuesday the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE) in a statement.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 47th Session of the Arab Labor conference, which was launched yesterday in Cairo, and was attended by the Egyptian Prime Minister and a number of Ministers of Arab countries, as well as the secretary-general of the league of Arab League, members of delegations from employers ‘ organizations and labor unions of 21 Arab countries, representatives of Arab and international organizations and a number of ambassadors.
“Redha Tir stressed the need to activate the work of the Association of Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies in the Arab states, which were created in Algeria in 2015 and make it “a strong impetus for joint Arab actions in order to reach the integration of economists among Arab countries”, according to the statement.
Mr. Tir said that Algeria’s embrace of the General Assembly of the Arab Association of Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies on 22 and 23 November is part of the same endeavor.
The meeting was also an occasion for Mr. Tir to invite the Secretary-General of the Arab League to attend the African Private Sector Forum organized by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council “under the auspices of the President of the Republic” during the last triennial of this year in cooperation with the African Union.
