Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi expressed his happiness with his deserved team’s victory against Tunisia with a clean double at Rades Stadium, as part of the two teams’ preparations for the African Nations Cup and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.
After the match, Belmadi said,
“It was a real derby and a difficult match, as we expected against a good Tunisian team. We came looking for a win and this is what we achieved.”
The coach added,
“Winning is good for morale and good for continuing not to receive a defeat, and this is the culmination of the efforts of the players who have been working for three years and are looking forward to more success.”
Algeria scored two goals in the first half after imposing great pressure at the beginning of the match to maintain its unbeaten record for 27 consecutive matches.
Belmadi added,
“We imposed a technical plan at the beginning of the match. We did not let them play, as happened in the Congo match. It is true that they had more possession of the ball in the second half, but they were unable to create real chances.”
“We could have killed the match with a third goal, but overall we achieved what we wanted against a good team,” he added.
“We gave everything we had. The Tunisian team was strong, but we deserved to win today,” said Sofiane Feghouli.
