ALGIERS- Local authorities should be the strong link of the new Algeria. The weight of provinces and municipalities in the country is explained primarily by their role as a driver of attractiveness and socioeconomic development.
The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has made a large part of his career in these communities, is determined to provide these territories with broader prerogatives and skills to meet the challenges of the time.
All regions of the country are called to play a major economic role. For the President of the Republic, the provinces, which have many assets and youth with multiple facets, must create wealth. The President does not want to hear any more about regions facing unemployment and malaise.
The President of the Republic is convinced that the transformation of Algeria can only be at the heart of local communities. The latter should free themselves from the bureaucratic centralization of another era.
The attractiveness and competitiveness of Algeria also come from its ability to involve and empower the governors and local elected officials in the economic emergence of the country.
Today, the time has come for a real transformation in provinces to achieve the development goals set by the head of state, because the development of Algeria is played in local communities and not in central administrations. With local authorities freed from the lead, the country will be more attractive, more prosperous, and more powerful.
