ALGIERS- Academics represent 67.32% of the new component of the National People’s Assembly (APN) resulting from the legislative elections of June 12, 2021, or 274 deputies out of a total of 407 in the lower house of Parliament, according to the final results proclaimed Wednesday by the President of the Constitutional Council, Kamel Fenniche, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the Organic Law on the electoral regime.
Women are represented at 8.49% in the new component of the AFN, or 35 deputies, according to the same results.
Young people under 40 have gleaned 136 seats, a rate of 33.41%.
The final results announced by the Constitutional Council confirmed the victory of the National Liberation Front (FLN) party, which leads with 98 seats, followed by the Independents with 84 seats and the Society for Peace Movement (MSP) with 65 seats.
The turnout in these elections stood at 23%, according to the same results.
