Abderrahmane Benamadi won the sixth African title of his career in Oran today, triumphing in the men’s under-90 kilograms on a home mat.

South Africa’s Thomas-Laszlo Breytenbach, 20, reached the final at the African Judo Championships, but was unable to match Benamadi, losing inside 44 seconds.

Bronze medals went to the Egyptian Ali Hazen and Femi Feuillet from Mauritius.

Benamadi, now 36, won a silver medal at the World Championships in Cairo back in 2005.

The women’s under-78kg also produced a gold medal for the host nation, with Kaouthar Ouallal going one better than Benamadi and winning a seventh continental crown.

Ouallal beat consecutive rivals from Cameroon to secure the title – Georgika Wesley Djengue Moune and the Ayuk Otay Arrey Sophina.

Djengue Moune took the silver medal and Arrey Sophina a bronze, alongside Hafsa Yatim from Morocco.

Tunisian Sarra Mzougui won the women’s open category, seeing off Senegal’s Monica Sagna in the final.

Fellow Tunisian Koussay Ben Ghares beat home judoka Mustapha Yesser to claim men’s under-100kg gold.

The men’s over-100kg title went the way of Mohamed Sofiane Belrekaa, giving the host nation a third gold of the day.

Tunisia’s Wahib Hdiouech beat Mbagnick Ndiaye from Senegal – the top-ranked athlete at the African Judo Championships – in the last four, but then came unstuck versus Belrekaa.

Algeria now have seven gold medals at the home African Judo Championships.

Team competition is scheduled tomorrow.

Indeed, we invite you, all compatriots with a positive and constructive mindset to join us, through your contributions, in this adventure of defense and construction of a new Algeria.

What We Do

We work continuously and scrupulously to provide the public with reliable, objective and eminently positive information. Faithful to the founder’s credo of “sowing hope”, our ambition is to create an enthusiastic dynamic (without pouring into euphoria), federating competencies in the service of their homeland. Our publications, as you will notice, will always highlight positive performances and achievements in different fields, and also reflect our critics whenever we see problems affecting the lives of our fellow citizens, providing adequate solutions or calling for our elites to help solve them.

Our Mission

Our unique goal is to make this platform the first in Algeria to be devoted exclusively to positive information that sows hope among our youth and entice them to participate in the development of our country. The building of this new Algeria of which we dream and to which we aspire will be a collective work of all citizens jealous of the greatness of their nation and its influence. It will be the guarantor of the preservation of its independence and sovereignty and will honor the legacy and sacrifice of our valiant Chouhadas.
