Isolated on the Arab scene, as well as on the international scene, Morocco is trying in vain to reduce Algeria’s successes in bringing the Arab family together around the central question of Palestine. The latest Moroccan maneuvers concern the dissemination of disinformation and fake news, concerning disputes between Algeria and Saudi Arabia related to “leadership”, maneuvers included in the action carried out by the Zionist entity to torpedo the action of reunification of Arab ranks.
Morocco, which tries to console with these maneuvers serving Zionist interests, is mistaken about the situation and the evolution of the world towards a multipolar order. The Gulf countries have understood this, and have just concluded a historic rapprochement with Iran, distancing themselves from the Zionist entity, despite the excitement aroused during the year 2020, with the Apartheid regime.
The rapprochement of the Gulf countries, at their head Saudi Arabia, with Iran, under the aegis of China, makes Morocco the big loser, and the first country isolated on the Arab scene. His attempts to torpedo the Arab Summit in Algiers, last November 1, by evoking with the help of the media subservient to the Makhzenian cause, subjects parallel to the agenda of the summit, namely the Palestinian question.
Today, the fruits of Algeria’s efforts are there, to show that the important thing for Algerian diplomacy was the reunification of Arab ranks around the central question of Palestine. Undermining the process of the return of Arab action, as the first choice for the settlement of inter-Arab disputes, seems to disturb the Makhzen and its Zionist mentor, who see their plans to dictate their policy evaporate, since Algeria had positioned itself against any normalization with the Zionist entity, without the construction of a sovereign Palestinian State, with Al Quds as its capital.
Arabic, with the Iranian-Saudi rapprochement and the return of Syria to its Arab family, Morocco has no choice but to pour into this destructive propaganda by evoking disinformation and fake news concerning the absence of Algeria at the last meeting held last Friday in Jeddah, bringing together the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council of the GCC, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq on the subject of the return of Syria to the Arab league. A return that Algeria has always advocated, unlike Morocco which refuses it, in the same way as Qatar, and to a lesser degree Egypt.
But as the form of Syria’s return depends on the consensus, Morocco’s voice is insignificant, hence the recourse of the Makhzen to blackmail and disinformation to undermine the Arab-Africa Summit scheduled for this year, in Saudi Arabia, mentioning the presence of the SADR. A summit that will take place after the Arab League summit scheduled for May 19, knowing that Algeria is the current president of the Arab League. Morocco seems to be haggling over accepting Syria’s return to the Arab League, in exchange for depriving the SADR of being present at the next Arab-African Summit, scheduled for Saudi Arabia.
This blackmail has little chance of succeeding insofar as the SADR will be invited by the African Union, as a founding member of this organization. SADR’s participation in the last Africa-Japan summit (TICAD) in August 2022, organized in Tunisia, confirms this.
Tunisia, which observes neutrality in the Western Sahara conflict and which does not recognize the SADR, did not deprive the latter of participating in this summit to the great displeasure of Morocco. Today, it is clear that Morocco is trying to glean a few pennies from Riyadh to conform to the reality of the new geopolitics that is emerging.
In 2016, on the occasion of the last Arab-Africa summit, held in Equatorial Guinea, Moroccan maneuvers did not succeed in preventing SADR’s participation in this summit.
