ALGIERS – From September 4 to 10, 2025, Algeria will host the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), with the ambition of making this event a true driver for boosting trade, attracting investment, and strengthening the continent’s economic integration.

Held under the theme “A Gateway to New Opportunities,” this edition aims to be the most ambitious since the launch of IATF in 2018, both in terms of the number of participants and the economic agreements expected.

With over 2,000 exhibitors from 75 countries, 35,000 professional visitors expected, and trade and investment deals potentially exceeding $44 billion, IATF 2025 positions itself as a major catalyst for African economic integration.

Organised at the Palais des Expositions (Pins Maritimes – Algiers), this continental-scale event is being held in collaboration with the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank), which initiated the fair, the African Union Commission, and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The exhibition programme is particularly rich. In addition to the multi-sector exhibition (agriculture, industry, energy, finance, health, transport, research, innovation, start-ups, etc.), several key events are scheduled.

These include the Trade and Investment Forum, the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) Summit for creative industries, B2B meetings, a special day dedicated to the African diaspora, and the African Automobile Show.

The fair will also feature spaces dedicated to young African entrepreneurs creating start-ups, university students and researchers, as well as special days for countries and entities from both the public and private sectors to showcase their opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, and culture.

The stated ambition is to make this edition the most impactful in IATF’s history in terms of economic impact and international visibility, while reaffirming Algeria’s role as a driving force in African development.

To ensure the fair’s success, Algeria is mobilising all the necessary organisational and logistical resources, aiming to make this high-profile event a lever for economic emergence.

During the Council of Ministers meeting on April 20, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered that all necessary facilities be put in place to enable African partners to participate in this important economic event, which is of particular significance for promoting intra-African trade, along with all measures likely to contribute to its success for the benefit of both the national and African economies.

He also called for close coordination and combined efforts to ensure the full success of this edition, given Algeria’s experience and its leadership role at both African and international levels.

The preparations undertaken by Algeria for the success of this event have been repeatedly commended by the organising partners.

In this regard, the President of the IATF Advisory Council and former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, expressed his confidence in the success of this major event during a promotional gathering held in Algiers in early July. He emphasised that the 2025 edition, “which enjoys great interest and the support of the Algerian authorities under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” will mark a new stage in the process of Africa’s “economic emancipation.”

Last Sunday, Algerian diplomat Larbi Latrèche was appointed Commissioner of IATF 2025. He will be assisted by two deputies: Abdelkrim Beha and Messaoud Mehila, currently Algeria’s ambassadors to Jordan and Mexico, respectively.
