Algerians have launched a petition against “any move that threatens the sustainability and stability of Algeria”. The text, which has already collected a large number of signatures, notes that “the incessant attacks against our national state, its institutions, its symbols, its territorial integrity are multiplying and are constantly fed from inside and outside”. The petition, to which Djamila Boupacha, former fighter of the National Liberation War and former condemned to death, joined and who is the first signatory, notes that “the information is taken hostage by internationalist propagandists and other groups of ‘interest with perfidious intentions’.

“Our enemies yesterday and today have not given up on their plan to plunge our country into chaos. They succeeded in doing it in neighboring countries in the name of a fallacious democracy hiding their real designs to enslave them “, alert the signatories, who recall that Algeria” has always resisted and refuses any form of constraints which would reduce or compromise all or part of its sovereignty ”. “Although defeated, they continue, terrorism is still threatening and the borders of the national territory are under constant pressure, if not for the vigilance of our National and People’s Army.”
The authors of the petition claim to reject the scenario suffered by Syria or Libya “for the benefit of the disproportionate ambitions of those who would like to use the people as a stepping stone to place themselves at the helm of the Algerian state”, and say they are “aware of the dangers which weigh “on Algeria, on its sovereignty, its peace and” of the consequences of any attempt of foreign interference “in the internal affairs of the country,” whose only objective is the destabilization “of the State.
The signatories of the petition launch a “solemn appeal to all compatriots to close ranks” and to unite beyond political tendencies, social differences and all divergences, while stressing that they are “aware that the problems exist, that injustices and inequalities persist, that deprivation and lack disadvantage many layers and that our young people have the right to expect real care ”. “We all want a State of law and justice, they explain, a State which guarantees to all the access to a full and complete citizenship”, by rejecting “the brutal ruptures, the provocations, the calls to foreign forces and by the systematic rejection of any solution that would come through clearly formulated proposals and programs that meet the needs of our people, and by the organization of impartial ballots which will allow them to freely express their will and elect their representatives ” .
For the callers, “the country’s situation prohibits everyone from making calculations and sticking to their particular interests to the detriment of the general interest.” Denouncing a “massive deconstruction by a Machiavellian, despotic, corrupt and destructive political regime which has weakened it”, they note that “the reconstruction of the country is proving difficult” and that “reforms require time and patience”.
“National unity and the values of the country must be defended by all and we call on all Algerians to come together around the national state, its unity and its sovereignty,” they conclude.
