The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, paid his respects on Sunday at the Martyr’s Shrine in Algiers, in memory of the martyrs of the Revolution and in commemoration of the victims of the massacres of October 17, 1961 in Paris.
After greeting a detachment of the Republican Guard who paid him the honors, President Tebboune laid a wreath of flowers at the foot of the memorial stele and recited the Fatiha of the Koran in memory of the martyrs.
The commemorative ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, the President of the National People’s Assembly, Brahim Boughali, the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha, members of the government and senior officials of the state.
During this commemorative ceremony, President Tebboune exchanged words with former moudjahidine and members of the revolutionary family, including those of the French Federation of the National Liberation Front.
President Tebboune decided on Saturday to observe a minute of silence on October 17 of each year at 11am across the national territory, in memory of the Shouhada of the massacres of October 17, 1961 in Paris and this, starting this Sunday.
