Tunisian Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines, Naila Nouira El-Kenji, expressed today, Wednesday, her desire to increase the volumes of Algerian natural gas exported to her country, in order to supply more to the Tunisian border towns with this raw material, according to a statement by the Ministry of Energy and Mines. The Minister expressed this desire during a meeting, organized today, Wednesday, via video-lecture technology, with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, where the two parties discussed the state of progress and development of current projects and contracts and future cooperation opportunities, the statement adds. Regarding the supply of natural gas to Tunisia, the Tunisian minister expressed her “desire to see an increase in the volumes of gas exported to her country,” according to the same source. In this context, I proposed updating studies with the aim of supplying Tunisian border cities, similar to supplying the historic city of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, in 2019, from the Algerian National Gas Network, which was a first step to achieve the project of supplying Tunisian border towns with natural gas. It also concerned raising the operational capabilities and electrical connections between the two countries, as well as studying the possibility of supplying Tunisia with hydrocarbons (crude oil and liquefied natural gas). The two sides also discussed the possibility of increasing Tunisia’s supply of petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas and butane gas.
