ALGIERS – The Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) has set up, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, a solidarity program for the benefit of destitute families providing different types of aid, especially in gray areas, and this, through the opening of 200 “Rahma” restaurants and the distribution of 40,000 food parcels, said this humanitarian organization.
The Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) continues its actions of solidarity with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan through the implementation of a program providing for the opening of 200 “Rahma” restaurants, or “Mercy” benevolent restaurants nationwide with a view to preserving the “dignity of the people” and allowing them to break the fast with a warm meal during this blessed month amidst an atmosphere of solidarity, assistance and fraternity. In addition to the distribution of Iftar meals for the benefit of road users and more than 40,000 parcels of food products or “Crib of Ramadan” to needy and destitute families across the different regions of the country, especially the gray areas.
As a reminder, the CRA had given, Thursday, the kickoff of a solidarity caravan carrying 6,000 packages of food products intended for families in gray areas through the different regions of the country.
The program also covers circumcision operations for more than 2,000 children and the distribution of Eid clothing to children from needy families, in addition to the organization of visits to the sick in certain hospitals, in particular cancer patients.
According to the same source, these solidarity operations are part of the permanent actions of the CRA, in particular on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, stressing that these operations come “to support the efforts of the State” in the matter, and this, within the framework of the reinforcement of the principle of solidarity and mutual aid between the different fringes of society”.
