ALGIERS – The El-Baraka Association for Charity and Humanitarian Work has launched the competition for the international grand prize for the best intellectual descriptive work, dealing with the suffering of Palestinian detainees, with the aim of “lifting the veil on their tragic fate and lay bare the inhuman policy of the Zionist enemy before the whole world”.
“The competition for the international grand prize for the best intellectual work describing the suffering of Palestinian detainees also aims to publicize the victories and the daily struggle of detainees in jails against the prison administration of the Zionist enemy, ” said, Tuesday evening in Algiers, the president of the El-Baraka Association, Ahmed Ibrahimi.
The international grand prize for the best intellectual work, placed in its first edition under the slogan “With you on the way to freedom”, will reward the best works dealing with the theme of the inhuman conditions suffered by Palestinian detainees in the jails of the Zionist occupier, in the following disciplines: drawing, poetry, short video and press articles. The winners of the first three prizes will respectively receive checks for 3000, 2000 and 1000 dollars.
“The launch of this prize, which also coincides with Knowledge Day (April 16) and Palestinian Detainee Day (April 17), is also a tribute to the leader of the reformist movement in Algeria, Abdelhamid Ibn Badis and to the Palestinian detainees who are undergoing the worst treatment in prison,” Ibrahimi added.
Speaking on this occasion, the representative of the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulemas, Amar Tolbi, denounced “the silence of certain Arab and Muslim countries in the face of the latest Zionist attacks against the Palestinian people and the Al-Aqsa mosque”.
Mr. Tolbi also condemned “the eagerness of certain Arab and Muslim countries to normalize their relations with the Zionist entity, in search of possible protection or narrow interests”, dubbing this attitude as “cowardly” and “treason” for Islam and the Muslim nation.
“The Zionists will never help the Muslims. Hoping for possible support from them is an illusion that will soon turn into disillusionment,” Tolbi pointed out.
According to Palestinian institutions concerned with prisoners’ affairs, there are approximately 4,500 prisoners in Zionist occupation jails, including 1,500 children and 34 women.
