An Algerian producer of olive oil from Ain and Sara, in the state of Djelfa, won for the second time in the international competition for premium raw olive oil that took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after winning his second gold medal in 2022 as part of this competition.
After winning his first gold medal last February, during the Dubai International Olive Oil Competition (Dubai Olive Oil Competition + DOOC +), producer Hakim Alilish, owner of the “Golden” brand, won a second gold medal on July 30 for the same product that maintained Its quality and all its characteristics are five months after its submission in the first competition.
In a statement to the Algerian Press Agency, Mr. Alilish confirmed that this new gold medal was awarded to him “on the basis of the same oil that was analyzed last February before a jury composed of experts from several nationalities.” He also explained that “the oil remained intact after five months, which allowed him to seize this second medal.”
He expressed his satisfaction at winning this gold medal for the second time, noting that this success indicates the “high” quality of Algerian olive oil, adding that “this proves that Algerian olive oil producers have great experience in cold processing olives to obtain excellent raw olive oil.” .
This was not Mr. Alilish’s first success, as he has already won many medals, including the gold medal in the International Competition for Excellent Crude Olive Oil organized in Japan (Japanese Olive Oil Award) which was awarded in Tokyo last May.
He continued, “In order to participate in such international competitions, producers must meet certain quality standards imposed by the International Council for the Production of Olive Oil,” explaining that “the product is subject to physical, chemical and microbiological analyzes.”
As for the marketing of “golden” olive oil, the same agricultural dealer clarified
It is about “a high-quality product that is not found in large spaces, but on the shelves of high-end grocery stores, on electronic platforms or even in some airports.”
He also expressed his ambition to market this product internationally, stressing that in addition to its use in the food field, this oil is “in great demand” in the pharmaceutical industries for the production of nutritional supplements using its molecules known for their benefits precious.
As a reminder, this dealer, who specializes in the organic farming category, started his activity from the high plateaus, about twenty years ago.
He currently owns orchards with an area of 40 hectares located in the Banhar area in Ain
And Sarah, the investor includes 15,000 olive trees, of which 9,000 trees are in the process of production and are irrigated with the drip irrigation technique.
