Defend your villages from the invading French armies!
In The Red Burnoose: Algeria 1857, you will work together as Kabyle villages with other players to fend off the French using deckbuilding, area control, and dice rolling. This is a cooperative wargame for 1 to 4 players ages 14 and up. The game was designed with both those new and those more experienced with wargames in mind.
After being driven off in 1854, the French returned to the Kabylia in 1857 to try and finally conquer the region. The last area in northern Algeria that France did not control. The defense was organized by Llala Fatma N’Soumer with the assistance of her brothers. In this game, you take on the role of Kabyles defending their homeland to play out this historical conflict. The rules are also available in French and in German. These rules will be laid out similarly to the English rules and, along with translations of the game’s cards and board, will be made available digitally before the final game is made available.
In The Red Burnoose: Algeria 1857, you win the game by working together to defend your villages long enough to exhaust the French assault. You lose by having the French armies capture too many of your villages.
Risks and challenges
The Red Burnoose: Algeria 1857 is Hit em With a Shoe’s third board game Kickstarter. Our first one went off with few hiccups, and even then we learned a lot from the experience. We have taken those lessons and improved our processes for both domestic shipping logistics and working with our manufacturer. We currently have all art assets for the game done, so this game is very close to ready to go to the manufacturer once funding is complete. From there it is just a matter of getting the game from the manufacturer and delivering it to all of you. We are committed to getting out a high quality product to our backers. There are current challenges with freight shipping that may impact the final shipping price of the game. If you are not comfortable with that you should reconsider backing this project.
