The representative of the World Food Program, Imad Khanfir, said during a press conference organized today, Wednesday, at the United Nations headquarters in Algiers, that the conditions in the Sahrawi refugee camps are deteriorating due to food insecurity and malnutrition. Imad Khanfir attributed the main reason for the deteriorating conditions in the Sahrawi refugee camps to the doubling of food aid costs alone to $39 million this year, compared to $19.8 million before the outbreak of the epidemic.
Khanfir explained that the proposed solution to the Sahrawi refugee crisis is to increase the international community’s assistance to ensure the protection of refugees and to avoid dire risks that may arise due to food insecurity.
