Italian soil engineering specialist Trevi Group’s Algerian subsidiary is working on foundations for a new motorway project, linking the Port of Oran to the East-West Highway.
Trevi Algerie is working for main contractor Makyol and client Algérienne des Autoroutes, or Algerian Highways, on the scheme in the north west of Algeria.
The motorway link will comprise 8.4km of dual carriageway, including 1.6km of tunnel and multiple viaducts.
As part of the works, the Oran port will be extended and connected to the East-West Highway via a motorway junction.
Trevi’s scope of works involves the construction of the viaduct piers. It is installing piles with a diameter of 1,200mm to a maximum depth of 46.5m. For the piling process it is using drilling mud and sonic logging tubes.
The piling contractor has deployed a Soilmec SR-45 and a Soilmec SR-60 rig as well as a Soilmec SC-80 service crane for the project.
