ALGIERS- Two large deep-sea fishing boats (tuna boats) of 35 meters long, built by a private Algerian company, with an estimated integration rate of 60%, were officially launched on Saturday at the port of Zemmouri , east of Boumerdès.
The launching of these two boats, built by the construction and naval repair company “CORENAV”, activating for years at the port of Zemmouri El Bahri, was carried out in the presence of the Minister of Fisheries and Fisheries Production, Hicham Sofiane Salaouatchi, the Mediator of the Republic, Brahim Merad, representatives of the Algerian Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture, members of both chambers of Parliament and local authorities.
One of the two boats was baptized, on the occasion, with the names of the two martyr brothers Benaamane Mohamed and Ali, both fishermen, on the proposal of the Ministry of Mujahideen.
The inauguration of these two ships (in polystyrene) built by Corenav, which is currently working on the manufacture of a third similar ship expected to be delivered soon, is part of the implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at setting up a fishing fleet on the deep sea, for the recovery of national capacities in fish production, and therefore ensuring food security, said Mr. Salaouatchi.
In addition to contributing to the local development of shipbuilding and repair as well as attracting large specialized companies to benefit from the experience, the construction of these ships will also reduce imports in the field.
The market value of the two ships inaugurated and the third under construction exceeds seven million dollars; more than one billion dinars, according to the minister’s explanations.
Corenav is one of the most active private companies in the field of shipbuilding and repair at the national level. “It has become a model of success for investors, who can count on its experience to develop the sector,” assured its owner Chaoueche Ali Malek, who reported that his unit recently obtained a decision for the extension of its activity, after having benefited from a 2,400 M2 land, within the port.
Created in 2002, the company extends over a base of 4000 M2, inside the port. This family business employs 85 young graduates in various specialties.
It has extensive experience in the field of construction and repair of wooden ships (between 12 and 25 meters) and polystyrene (between 4.80 m and 18.50 m), indicated the same official.
