The recent US-drafted resolution labelled the Resistance movement a “terrorist organization” and claimed it did not represent the people of Palestine.<\/h4>\n

In reaction to China, Russia, and Algeria’s vetoes on today’s US-drafted resolution at the UN Security Council, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas issued a statement expressing appreciation for their decision.<\/p>\n

“We express our appreciation for the position of Russia, China, and Algeria, which rejected the biased American resolution of aggression against our people,” the statement read.”<\/p>\n

The\u00a0US revised resolution<\/a>\u00a0called for increased humanitarian aid in Gaza and “rejects any forced displacement of the civilian population in Gaza,” but failed to include a permanent ceasefire.<\/p>\n

It called for a ceasefire that “should lay the foundation for a sustainable ceasefire,” once again “reiterating the vision of the two-state solution, with the Gaza Strip as part of the Palestinian State.”<\/p>\n

It also labeled the Resistance movement a “terrorist organization” and claimed it did not represent the people of Palestine.<\/p>\n

The Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations\u00a0\u00a0Zhang Jun\u00a0<\/a>said that the call was laying preconditions for a ceasefire that will enable the continuation of the Gaza genocide.<\/p>\n

Russia’s envoy Vassily Nebenzia labelled the US resolution a “standard American deception” and said that Russia does not tolerate ceasefire calls that lead to nowhere.<\/p>\n

“The purpose of the American decision is to buy time and its goal is politicized so that Israel can escape punishment,” Nebenzia said.<\/p>\n

Algeria’s representative, on his part, lamented the rejection of a previous Algerian-drafted resolution.<\/p>\n

Had the Council adopted\u00a0Algeria’s resolution\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0in late February, it could have prevented the loss of thousands of innocent lives, Algeria’s UN representative Amar Benjama said.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the session ended,\u00a0Sputnik\u00a0<\/em>reported that\u00a0another resolution<\/a>\u00a0on Gaza is due to be voted on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

They draft resolution was prepared by Algeria, Malta, Switzerland, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Guyana.<\/p>\n

“Israel” is currently planning to launch a ground invasion of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians have sought refuge.<\/p>\n

Israeli Prime Minister\u00a0Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a>\u00a0recently informed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that ‘Israel’ will enter Rafah with or without US help.<\/p>\n
