ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum called to work \u201cin synergy and in a coordinated manner\u201d to implement the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).<\/p>\n
In his speech before the participants of the United Nations Summit on Biodiversity, held on 30 June 2020, on the sidelines of the 75th<\/sup>\u00a0UN General Assembly, Boukadoum, in his capacity as representative of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reviewed \u201cthe efforts made by Algeria for the preservation of biodiversity in accordance with its national priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAlgeria\u2019s geographical position and huge territory have made from it a country with many ecosystems in which there are about 16,000 animal and plant species protected thanks to the legal and regulatory frameworks in force at the national level,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Boukadoum shed light on the national and sectoral plans that enabled, he said, \u201cachieving a set of objectives set at the international level, including the 11th<\/sup>\u00a0Aichi target related to protected areas.\u201d<\/p>\n For the minister, this effort was carried out through a set of activities and projects implemented by several sectors, such as the Ministries of Environment, of Agriculture and Rural Development, of Fisheries and of Culture and Arts as part of cultural parks. \u201cThese activities helped determine nature reserves covering no less than 45% of the national territory,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Foreign Affairs minister welcomed \u201cthe consistency characterizing the main environmental causes, which leads the international community to work in synergy and in a coordinated manner to implement the CBD\u2019s objectives, which requires, he stressed, from the developed countries, given their \u201chistorical responsibility,\u201d to work to \u201censure the technical and financial support likely to enable to their partners among the developing countries to achieve the objectives outlined by this Convention.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Published On : Friday, 02 October 2020 19:24 APS.dz ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum called to work \u201cin synergy…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":1558,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1557","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-science"],"yoast_head":"\n
