This is why Algeria has created 11 beautiful national parks to best ensure the protection of representative samples of the different landscapes, forests, flora and fauna that make up the country’s diversity.<\/p>\n

These 11 parks are home to impressive plants, unique in their diversity and rarity. There are a large number of mammals and many types of birds, they are accompanied by anomalous rock formations, historic sites, ruins and rock carvings. Each park has its own particularity. The fabulous Ahaggar National Narc is located on the Hoggar massif and is geographically part of the Ahaggar capital, Tamanrasset. It was declared a national park in 1987 and was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1988. Ahaggar Park covers an area of \u200b\u200b450,000 square kilometers and is home to fascinating cultural and natural heritage. It contains archaeological sites from 600,000 to 1 million years ago. A real open-air museum.<\/p>\n

Belezma National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Belezma National Park is located in Batna. This beautiful park was classified as a national park in 1984. The park occupies an area of \u200b\u200b26,250 hectares, is a mountain, with rugged relief, steep slopes and dense vegetation. The Belezma park marks the start of the Aur\u00e8s Algeria block.<\/p>\n

Chr\u00e9a National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chr\u00e9a Natural Park covers an area of \u200b\u200b26,000 hectares. It is located approximately 50 kilometers southwest of Algiers in the central Atlas Blidean. Chr\u00e9a Park was classified as a national park in 1983. In 2002, this park was recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve. Chr\u00e9a Park has at least 1,200 species of flora and fauna, including cedar, cork oak, Aleppo pine and holm oak.<\/p>\n

Djurdjura National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Djurdjura National Park is located in the northeast of the very mountainous region of Algeria between the two wilayas of Bouira and Tizi-Ouzou. This is an atypical park, covering an area of \u200b\u200b18,500 hectares. Its Mediterranean and continental climate makes it one of the richest mountain biomes. It has no less than 600 species of plants.<\/p>\n

El Kala National Park is located in the northeast of Algeria. This beautiful natural space was classified as a national park by UNESCO in 1983 and a world biosphere reserve in 1990. This beautiful park covers an area of \u200b\u200b76,438 ha, the El Kala national park is considered one of the largest national parks in the country and the richest in northern Algeria. This paradise includes several natural landscapes as well as the most diverse flora and fauna in all of Algeria.<\/p>\n

Gouraya National Park is located on the east coast of Algeria in B\u00e9jaia. The park covers an area of \u200b\u200b2080 hectares and presents an extraordinary archaeological and aesthetic richness, in particular the summit of the mountain of the monkeys, the fortress of the guraya, the promenade of the Cape Carbon and the marvelous cliffs. This park was recognized as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2014.<\/p>\n

Tassili n\u2019Ajjer National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tassili n\u2019Ajjer National Park is located in the Tassili n\u2019Ajjer block of Djanet in the Wilaya, Illizi, in south-eastern Algeria. Due to the enormous wealth of the park, in particular the famous rock engravings and paintings, the Tassili was classified as a national park in 1972. The park was then listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, and was inscribed as reserve of humanity and the biosphere in 1986.<\/p>\n

Taza National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taza National Park is located in the Guerrouche forest plot near Jijel in northeastern Algeria. The park covers an area of \u200b\u200b3,807 hectares and is considered unique in the Mediterranean basin due to its diversity. Taza National Park is made up of low altitude mountainous areas. Its highest point is Kountet El Kern (Kountet El Kern) at 1121 meters above sea level. Taza Park has been classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO since 2004.<\/p>\n

The Th\u00e9niet El-Had National Park is located in the north-west of Algeria at de la willaya de Tissemsilt. It covers an area of \u200b\u200b3425 hectares, of which 2968 hectares are covered with vegetation. Its flora mainly includes Atlas oak, holm oak, cork oak and Zen oak.<\/p>\n

Tlemcen National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Classified as a national park in 1993, the national park of the city of Tlemcen is located in the north-west of Algeria. It occupies an area of \u200b\u200b8,225 hectares, rich in biodiversity, and a wide variety of animals and plants. The park also has many historical attractions, such as the ruins of Mansourah, and natural sites such as the legendary El Ourit waterfall.<\/p>\n

Babors National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

The last park on our list is that of Babor-Tababort National Park, which conceals an ecosystem very rich in animal and plant species over a total area of \u200b\u200b23,656 hectares, which covers all three wilayas: S\u00e9tif (11,909 ha ), B\u00e9ja\u00efa (7,478 ha) and Jijel (4,269 ha).<\/p>\n

Babors National Park extends to the following 3 willayas wilderness: S\u00e9tif, B\u00e9ja\u00efa and Jijel. Babors National Park has just been classified as a protected area in the category of national parks in April 2019.<\/p>\n
