Born in Aur\u00e8s (Eastern Algeria), Houria A\u00efchi went to study\u00a0psychology\u00a0in Paris in the 1970s. While teaching sociology, she started to perform in 1985, singing traditional songs of her childhood (lullabies, love songs), accompanied by traditional instruments (gasb\u00e2\u00a0,\u00a0bendir), Her first two released albums did not open doors<\/p>\n

Houria A\u00efchi also participated in the music for the film\u00a0The Sheltering Sky\u00a0by\u00a0Bernardo Bertolucci\u00a0(1990). Her third album,\u00a0Khalwa\u00a0(meaning\u00a0A Mystical Retreat) was a collaboration with\u00a0Henri Agnel \u00a0which was devoted to the sacred songs of Algeria, including those of\u00a0dhikr\u00a0and\u00a0soufi<\/p>\n

Houria A\u00efchi performed both in 2008 and 2013 at the festival\u00a0Au fil des voix\u00a0(fr). She performed regularly in Paris from the 1990s.\u00a0After the winter season of 2017\u201318 in France, Houria A\u00efchi was invited to the “Festival Salam Orient” on October 21, 2019 in Vienn<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
