Newly appointed, United States ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, said Wednesday in Algiers that both Algeria and the United States are seeking to ensure stability and prosperity in North Africa and the Sahel region.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth Algeria and the United States seek stability and prosperity in North Africa and the Sahel region. Our security cooperation and joint fight against terrorism will remain the cornerstone of our bilateral relationship\u201dthe US ambassador said in a press statement following handover credentials to the president of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmajid Tebboune.<\/p>\n
Thanking the president of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for welcoming her and accepting her credentials as ambassador of the United States of America to Algeria, Ms. Moore-Aubin added, \u201cover the past 32 years, I have had the privilege of serving my country as a diplomat, representing the United States on five continents, including in Algeria from 2011 to 2014 when I was deputy chief of mission.<\/p>\n
\u201cA week ago, I had the opportunity to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, hours before the start of my trip to Algiers, U.S. Secretary Blinken expressed his deep appreciation for the history, culture, people and geographical beauty of Algeria, and expressed his admiration for his visit to Algeria in 2016,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The U.S. diplomacy revealed a discussion with her country\u2019s Secretary of state centered ,she said on\u201d\u201dThe importance of the partnership between the United States and Algeria, and their rich and multifaceted relationship\u201d adding that \u201dbefore I left, I was asked to deepen our partnership, and I will do so to the best of my ability\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur country also has a common interest in strengthening economic and trade relations with the diversity of the Algerian economy, and we are pleased to see more U.S. companies realizing the enormous potential of Algeria \u201dshe said.<\/p>\n
The new ambassador highlighted her efforts to deepen relations between the two peoples. \u201dLater this month, the embassy and the Algerian Ministry of Culture will host 24 musicians from Algeria, the United States of America, and all neighboring countries of Algeria in a unique music festival\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven the growing importance of English in business, technology and scientific research, we are honored to support the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education, which is revising its curriculum and teaching in English, with the aim of ensuring that every Algerian university graduate has an adequate understanding of the English language,\u201dshe said.<\/p>\n
Elizabeth Moore Aubin spoke about history that unites the two countries, saying that it is\u201d a long and rich history to continue to build on\u201d, noting that \u201din 1795 we signed the Treaty of Peace and Friendship in Algiers, and the first point of the document is that we agreed to treat each other with honor and respect, and I pledge to uphold these values and will be at the heart of all my efforts as ambassador\u201d.<\/p>\n
After handing over her credentials to the president of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmajid Tebboune, the U.S. ambassador had a stand in the place of the martyr where she laid a wreath of flowers in memory of the martyrs of Algeria.<\/p>\n
