ALGIERS – The event of the musical creation residency “One Beat Sahara” was closed on Friday at the Algiers Opera House, with a concert animated by the artists who took part in this international event in the presence of a large audience.<\/p>\n
For more than three hours, the closing concert was marked by the presentation of several songs between Algerian, African-American and African styles such as rai, chaabi, jazz, blues and rap, with the participation of young Algerian artists and singers as well as others from many countries including the United States, Tunisia, Mali, Libya, and Mauritania.<\/p>\n
In the presence of the American Ambassador to Algeria, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Aubin, the concert saw the participation of musician and singer Chakib Bouzidi, one of the artistic directors and initiators of this event, as well as the famous drummer Karim Ziad.<\/p>\n
The event of the musical creation residency “One Beat Sahara” opened on February 21st for two weeks in the oasis of Taghit (wilaya of Bechar) and one week in Algiers with the participation of 23 Algerian, American, and musicians from several African countries.<\/p>\n
Organized by the Embassy of the United States in Algeria, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Arts, this event aims to provide high-level training to artists and produce new and original musical works and to open up new perspectives for them.<\/p>\n
Launched by “Found Sound Nation” in 2012, the “One Beat” artistic residency brings together talented young artists from different countries annually for a month to promote creation and its promotion in American tours.<\/p>\n
