{"id":53628,"date":"2022-05-27T12:52:31","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T11:52:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jazairhope.org\/?p=53628"},"modified":"2022-05-27T12:52:31","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T11:52:31","slug":"submarine-cable-to-link-algeria-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jazairhope.org\/en\/submarine-cable-to-link-algeria-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Submarine cable to link Algeria, Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-highlight\">\n<ul>\n<li>EU-funded project will allow exchange of up to 2,000 MW of electricity<\/li>\n<li>\u2018It will certainly have a positive impact\u2019 on both countries\u2019 energy systems, ministry source tells Arab News<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\" data-io-article-url=\"https:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/node\/2088571\/business-economy\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>ROME: A submarine cable nearly 200 km long will soon link Italy and Algeria, allowing an exchange of up to 2,000 megawatts of electricity between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The electrical interconnection project will link the Algerian region of El-Chafia, on the east coast, and the Italian island of Sardinia.<\/p>\n<p>The project was discussed during a meeting in Rome between Mourad Adjal, CEO of Algerian state-owned natural gas company Sonelgaz, and Italy\u2019s Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani, before the start on Thursday of a two-day state visit by Algeria\u2019s president.<\/p>\n<p>A senior source in Italy\u2019s Ministry of Ecological Transition told Arab News: \u201cThis project will be funded by the EU.
