{"id":69482,"date":"2023-02-04T10:23:28","date_gmt":"2023-02-04T09:23:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jazairhope.org\/?p=69482"},"modified":"2023-02-04T10:23:28","modified_gmt":"2023-02-04T09:23:28","slug":"algerian-film-the-life-after-to-premiere-at-luxor-african-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jazairhope.org\/en\/algerian-film-the-life-after-to-premiere-at-luxor-african-film-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Algerian film \u2018The Life After\u2019 to premiere at Luxor African Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"intro-text\">\n<h4>The film highlights the plight of women in conservative and judgmental societies.<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">Algerian filmmaker Anis Djaad\u2019s <\/span><em style=\"text-transform: initial;\">The Life After<\/em><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">\u00a0is set to be featured at the 12th Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF), which will take place in the ancient Upper Egyptian city of Luxor from February 4 to 10, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>The Life After<\/em>\u00a0will be screened on February 7 at 1 PM at the Culture Palace Luxor, with director Anis Djaad set to attend.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The film claimed two awards at the 2022\u00a0Carthage International Film Festival\u00a0(JCC), which are the\u00a0Tahar Cheriaa First Film Prize\u00a0and the\u00a0TV5 Monde Prize, along with the\u00a0F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Africaine des Critiques Cin\u00e9ma\u2019s Le Prix FACC.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Set in Algeria, in a small village where Hajar, the cleaning woman and her son Jamil, are forced to move from one village to another in order to escape rumours about her. A story of misery and survival begins as Hajar fights to protect herself and her son from the criminals who inhabit the city.<\/p>\n<p>Starring\u00a0Lydia Larini, Ahmed Belmoumane, Djemel Barek,\u00a0and\u00a0Samir El-Hakim,\u00a0<em>The Life After<\/em>\u00a0is produced by Alegria Production (Moncef Delici). Meanwhile, MAD Solutions is managing the film\u2019s distribution in the Arab world<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The film received support from AFAC institution, Takmil workshop at Carthage Film Festival and CNC.<\/p>\n<p>Anis Djaad was born in the capital of Algeria and educated in Bab El Oued. In 1996, he discovered the world of cinema when he was an assistant director in the film\u00a0<em>Franca\u00a0Ya Franca<\/em>\u00a0by Jamal Lloyd. In 1997, he had to leave the cinema industry after the dismantling of the national film production company, but he hoped to return one day.
